Dear Tech Support Team:

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 5.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activities. Applications such as BachelorNights 10.3, Cricket 5.0, BeerWithBuddies 7.5, and Outings 3.6 no longer runs, crashing the system whenever selected. I can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications.

I'm thinking about going back to Girlfriend 5.0 , but the 'uninstall' doesn't work on Wife 1.0.

Dear Troubled User:

This is a very common problem that people complain about.

Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 5.0 to Wife 1.0 , thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING!! ! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 5.0.

It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 5.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed not to allow this. I recommend that you keep Wife1.0 and work on improving the environment. I suggest installing the background application "Yes Dear" to alleviate software augmentation. The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway.

Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean 2.5, Sweep 3.0, Cook 1.5 and DoLaundry 4.2. However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program NagNag 9.5 . Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Sarees 2.1 and Jewellery 5.0

STATUTORY WARNING : DO NOT, under any circumstances, install SecretaryWithShortS kirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

Copying text to/from DOS

Here is the way how to copy text to/from DOS environment...


Copying text from windows environment to Dos:

Step 1. Select your text (for ex text in notepad etc.,) also copy it to clipboard.
(edit -> copy or press ctrl + c)

Step 2. Now open dos window.. (type "cmd.exe" (without quotes) in "Run" dialogue box in Windows XP)

Step 3. Place the mouse pointer where you want text, and then right click choose "Paste".That's all!! NOTE THAT "ctrl + v" won't work here..



Copying text from DOS environment to Windos:
Step 1. Activate the control menu of Dos Window by pressing Alt + Space bar OR you can click at top lef most icon of the window..

Step 2. Select "Edit" and then choose "mark".


Step 3. Now cursor will change and you are able to select desired text..so select desired text. Drag your mouse over desired text..

Step 4. Again select "edit" from control menu and then choose "copy" OR you can simply press 'Enter' key. Now the copied text is available in windows clip board.


Step 5. So open any editor in windows environment such as notepad, MS-word and press ctrl + V (or edit -> paste)

Making GTALK as a multiple messenger..

By using the following method, you can use your GTALK messenger with more than one gmail accounts, like this..



Here is the procedure..

Step 1. Create a new shortcut.. (place the mouse pointer at desktop blank area and right click choose "New" and then choose "Shortcut")



Step 2. "Create Shortcut" dialogue box will appears..



Step 3. Type the following command in the "Type the location of the Item.." text box..

"C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe" /nomutex

(Otherwise you can locate your "googletalk.exe" file by using "Browse" button, later you can add /nomutex option to that commandline..)



Step 4. Click "Next" button..

Step 5. Now you can type your own name for that shortcut icon..

Step 6. Click "Finish" button. That's all!!

Step 7. Now double click the shortcut icon just you have created, as much times you want..you can login with no. of gmail accounts!!

How to increase Internet Speed?

Here is the way how you can utilize all the bandwidth you have..

Step 1. open "Run" dialogue box.. (press win + r )
Step 2. Type "gpedit.msc" (without quotes) in that "Run" dialogue box..

Step 3. Then "Group Policy" window will appears..


Step 4. In the displayed window click the "+" symbol before "Administrative Templates" to expand it..
(OR you can double click at "Administrative Templates")


Step 5. Expand "Network" branch (double click at "Network")

Step 6. Double click at "Qos Packet Scheduler"

Step 7. Double click "Limit Reservable bandwidth"

Step 8. Then "Limit reservable bandwidth Properties" window will appears.

Step 9. Click "Enabled" radio button, if there is another option and in the "Bandwidth limit(%)" text box type '0' (zero without quotes). You can type the value between zero and twenty. This value denotes the how much percentage of your bandwidth reserved by the system. You can conclude this by clicking "Explain" tab.


Step 10. Click "Apply" button. Click "Ok" button.
Step 11. Close "Group Policy" window. That's All!!
Step 12. When you restart your system.. you can see the difference in your internet speed!! Enjoy the fast browsing!!

Close Parent Windows automatically

Suppose if one of your folder option(s) (General tab) is "Open each folder in its own window" then you often will get screen full of explorer windows.



With the following tip you can close the current window and all it's parent windows in one easy step..

• To close the current window and all its parent windows hold down SHIFT key while clcking "close" button of current window! OR you can close your current window and all its parent windows by pressing ALT + SHIFT + F4

NOTE: If your folder option is "Open each folder in the same window" then this tip WILL NOT work.

Adding a Command to Right Click

With the following procedure you can add a commnd to right click when you place mouse pointer over a folder and right clicked there, like this...

Step 1. Open My Computer (Press Win + E or type "Explorer" (without quotes) on "Run" dialogue box.
Step 2. Click at "Tools" and then "Folder options.."



Step 3. Click at "File Types" tab.
Step 4. Click at "Folder" (not "File Folder")




Step 5. Click "Advanced" button (not "New" button)..then "Edit File Type" dialogue box will appears.


Step 6. Click "New.." button, then "New Action" dialog box will appears..



Step 7. Type 'required text which you want to display when you pressed right click on folder' at "Action" text box (Ex. Naresh's Dos)(Note if we add '&' symbol before any character, then we can get hot key of that letter in right click menu) and you have to type the 'command' at "Application used to perform action:" text box..(Ex. cmd.exe, or winword.exe, powerpnt.exe etc.). You can use "Browse" button to locate your application.

Step 8. Click "Ok" button ("New Action" dialog box). Click "Ok" button ("Edit File Type" dialog box).

Step 9. Click "Close" button ("Folder Options" dialog box)

Step 10. That's All !!

Now if you place your mouse pointer at any folder/DiskDrive in explorer window and right clicked then your new command will appears and you can execute it.

WARNING & CAUTION : Take care at the time of selecting "Folder" in "File Types". Don't correct/modify anything else on that list..ALL THE BEST!!

Changing Yahoo Messenger Title

Step 1. Open "Yahoo!" folder. (Generally it will be located on c:\Program files\..)
Step 2. Open "Messenger" folder..

Here is the method how you can display your name beside windows taskbar date & time display like this...




For this follow these steps..

1. Open Control Panel (Start - > settings - > Control Panel or type "Control" on Run dialog box)
2. click on Date, Time, Language and Regional Options



3. Click at "Regional and Language Options"



4. Click on "Customize" button.. and then click on "time" tab
5. Type your name at "AM" and "PM" combo boxes.. and then click "Apply" "ok" buttons.
